Hi, I’m Debra Olurin. I’m a Nigerian American with a background in biomedical engineering and hands-on experience in clinical engineering, where I helped support and oversee the critical technologies that keep healthcare running. That work shaped how I see systems, safety, and care, and over time, it opened the door to something I didn’t expect but now deeply value: cybersecurity.
I became increasingly curious about what security really means in practice, why it matters, and how it shows up in the real world, not just in enterprise systems but in the everyday decisions we make and the environments we rely on. That curiosity led me to explore information security and GRC, where I continue to lean in and learn.
I started Cyber With Debra because I wanted to create a space where all of this could come together, a place where people from different backgrounds can reflect, learn, and stay aware in a connected world.
When I’m not writing or exploring how cybersecurity ties into daily life and care environments, I’m probably spending time with my family and friends, building the perfect smoothie bowl, or having meaningful conversations with people. I care deeply about helping others grow, feel supported, and stay grounded. Whether you are learning something new or reconnecting with what you already know, I want this space to meet you there.
